A rational function is just that.....a ratio of functions

It may (or may not ) have a domain of all real numbers

It will have either a horizontal asymptote...a slant asymptote..or some other (more complex) asymptote

A polynomial is defined for all reals

There are no asymptotes

The range may (or may not) be all reals
