On a coordinate plane, a line goes through (0, 1) and (5, 0). What is the equation of the line that is perpendicular to and has the same y-intercept as the given line

Slope  of  given line  =  [ 0-1] / [ 5 - 0 ]   =  -1/5

 

And  because  (0, 1)  is on this line, the y intercept  = 1

 

The slope of the  perpedicular line is    5

 

So  

 

The equation  of this line is

 

y = 5x + 1
