4^x = 8^6

This isn't so hard to solve, once we equate bases....note   4 = 2^2    and 8 = 2^3....so we have.....

[2^2]^x  = [2^3]^6

2^(2x)  = (2)^(18)       now....we can solve for the exponents

2x = 18       divide both sides by 2

x = 9

cool cool cool

what is the value of x if 4^x = 8^6?

Since 8^6=2^6 X 4^6= (2^2)^3 X 4^6=4^3 X 4^6=4^9, therefore,

x=9
