how do you solve 1/3(8)=(2x+1)(3x+1)

(1/3 )(8)=(2x+1)(3x+1)

 

(8/3)  = 6x^2 + 5x + 1        mutiply through by 3

 

8  = 18x^2 + 15x  + 3      subtract 8 from both sides

 

18x^2 + 15x - 5  = 0      

 

Using the Quadratic formula, the two solutions are

 

x = [ - 5  ±√ 65 ] / 12
