if you have 6 apples and 2 people, how many apples should each person get. show your work

If there are six apples, and two people to split the apples evenly across so both get an equal amount of apples, then:

 

\(n=\frac{a}{p}\)

Where n is the number of apples each person gets, a is the total amount of apples, and p is the total amount of people. 

Substituting the numbers in gives:

 

\(n=\frac{6}{2} = 3\)

 

n is equal to three, so each person should receive three apples each.
