hi, so i'm trying to simplify this problem:     x^2+5x+6   x   x^2+11x +28       and I was hoping someone could give me a hand.

                                                                   x^2-16            x^2+2x-3

Simplify:        [ (x2 + 5x + 6) / (x2 - 16) ] · [ (x2 + 11x + 28) / ( x2 + 2x - 3) ]

Factor:          [ (x + 3)(x + 2) ] / [ (x + 4)(x - 4) ] · [ (x + 7)(x + 4) ] / [ (x + 3)(x - 1) ]

Rearrange:  [ (x + 3)(x + 2)(x + 7)(x + 4) ] / [ (x + 4)(x - 4)(x + 3)(x - 1) ]

Cancelling the common terms:  [ (x + 2)(x + 7) ] / [ (x - 4)(x - 1) ]

 

If you wish, you can multiply out these factors.

= \(7x^2+16x+28\) = 0

   a            b           c

 

\(x = {-b \pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac} \over 2a}\)

 

\(x = {-16 \pm \sqrt{256-4*7*28} \over 2*7}\)

 

\({\color{blue}x = \frac{-16\pm\sqrt {256-784}}{14}}\)

 

There is no real solution.  sad
