Gloria talked on her cell phone for 320 minutes the first month, 243 minutes the second month, and 489 minutes the third month. Her payment package does not allow her to pay per minute; she can only buy packages. If she has to pay $25 for every 200 minutes, how much did she pay for the first three months? PLEASE EXPLAIN

First month she has to buy TWO packages to cover 320 minutes

Second month                     TWO                              243

Third month                          THREE                          489

TWO + TWO + THREE = SEVEN package  @ 25 ea   = 175

320+243+489=1,052 total minutes that she talked for the 3 months.

1,052/200=5.26, but since she must buy a full package, which means she must have purchased 6 FULL packages, or 6 X 200=1,200 minutes. Since each package costs $25, then she must have paid $25 X 6=$150.00 for that 3-month period.

Answers 1 and 2 demonstrate different cell phone plans !    Some plans do not allow you to carry over minutes from month to month...if you do not use them you lose them.     Other plans allow you to just pay for your minutes in 200 minute alloquates (like the second example).
