1.    t^2-12 = 4t             subtract  4t from both sides

t^2 - 4t - 12  = 0          factor

(t - 6) (t + 2)  = 0         set each factor to   0

t - 6 = 0    →  t = 6           and                    t + 2  = 0      → t = -2

3.   a.   (8 , 11)

      b.     x  = 8
