Horses are measured in units called Hands. One inch equals 1/4 hand. The average Clydesdale is 17 1/5 hands tall. What is this height in inches? In feet?

Since 1 Hand=4 inches, then we have:

17 1/5 X 4=68.8 inches, the horse's height, or,

68.8 / 12=5 feet, 8.8 inches, the horse's height.
