How can I tell which fractions are bigger than another (e.g 4/5 is smaller or bigger than 3/2)
After working with fractions for a while, you may be able to 'feel' which is larger, but to be SURE, convert each to a fraction with a common denominator
4/5 = 8 /10
3/2 = 15 /10 Now you can easily see which is larger.......
Same thing.......find a common denominator of all THREE of the fractions and convert them.....
example 1/3 2/5 9/12
= 20/60 24/60 45/60
