how do i do some math questions, plz help me

1/3y - 18 = 2         multiply through by 3 to clear the fraction

y - 54   = 6     add 54 to each side

y  = 60

-2v+9 = 25   subtract 9 from both sides

-2v  = 16     divide both sides by -2

v  = -8
