4x-y+3=0    add y, subtract 3 from both sides

4x = y - 3     divide both sides by 4

x = [ y - 3 ] / 4

4x - y + 3=0

    +y     +y

4x + 3 =y

    -3    -3

4x = -3

÷4   ÷4

x = -3/4
