1. 4x/3-5=11    add 5 to both sides

4x/3  = 16       multiply both sides by 3

4x  = 48         divide both sides by 4

x = 12

 2. 2/5(3x+4)=6       multiply both sides by the reciprocal of 2/5   = 5/2

3x + 4   = 6(5/2)    simplify

3x + 4  = 30/2

3x + 4  = 15       subtract 4 from both sides

3x  = 11             divide both sides by 3

x = 11/3

3. 2(3x+4)=4x+12     distribute the 2 on the left side

6x + 8  = 4x + 12    subtract 4x, 8 from both sides

2x  = 4                  divide both sides by 2

x = 2

cool cool cool

3x+2/5=7

     -2/5   -2/5

3x=6 + 3/5

 3      3

x=2 + 1/5

Fancy schmancy visuals! :D

Thanks, rarinstraw......this could also be :

[3x+2] / 5=7          if so.....multiply both sides by 5

3x + 2  = 35        subtract 2 from both sides

3x  = 33               divide both sides by 3

x = 11

cool cool cool
