Solve for x:
(5 x)/(6)-3/8 = (5 x)/12+11/24

Put each term in (5 x)/(6)-3/8 over the common denominator 24: (5 x)/(6)-3/8 = (20 x)/24-(9)/24:
(20 x)/24-(9)/24 = (5 x)/12+11/24

(20 x)/24-(9)/24 = (20 x-9)/24:
(20 x-9)/24 = (5 x)/12+11/24

Put each term in (5 x)/12+11/24 over the common denominator 24: (5 x)/12+11/24 = (10 x)/24+11/24:
(20 x-9)/24 = (10 x)/24+11/24

(10 x)/24+11/24 = (10 x+11)/24:
(20 x-9)/24 = (10 x+11)/24

Multiply both sides by 24:
20 x-9 = 10 x+11

Subtract 10 x from both sides:
(20 x-10 x)-9 = (10 x-10 x)+11

20 x-10 x = 10 x:
10 x-9 = (10 x-10 x)+11

10 x-10 x = 0:
10 x-9 = 11

Add 9 to both sides:
10 x+(9-9) = 11+9

9-9 = 0:
10 x = 11+9

11+9 = 20:
10 x = 20

Divide both sides of 10 x = 20 by 10:
(10 x)/10 = 20/10

10/10 = 1:
x = 20/10

The gcd of 20 and 10 is 10, so 20/10 = (10×2)/(10×1) = 10/10×2 = 2:
Answer: |x = 2
