how do you solve 6x+3y=14 and 5x-2y=8.

I assume you mean:

\(2x-3y=40\)  (1)

\(x+5y=7\) (2)

Now let's multiply (2) with -2

\(2x-3y=40\)

\(-2x-10y=-14\)

Add these two equations

\(-13y=26\)

\(y=-2\)

Now to find x you just substitute  the value of y in either of the two equations

\(x+5y=7 ,x+5(-2)=7, x=7+10=17\)

So,

x=17

y=-2
