If Sam brought 2/3 liters of punch and 3/4 liters of tea, find the least common denominator. Multiply 3 and 4 to find it: 3 * 4 = 12. So now multiply 3 * 3 and 4 * 2.

This will result in 8/12(2/3) and 9/12(3/4).  Now add:

8/12 + 9/12 = 17/12 = (1 and 5/12 liters)

Sam brought 1-5/12 Liters to the Party.
