-4=y-2      add 2 to both sides

-2 = y       and there's your answer

$$\underset{\,\,\,\,{\textcolor[rgb]{0.66,0.66,0.66}{\rightarrow {\mathtt{y}}}}}{{solve}}{\left(\begin{array}{l}{\mathtt{2}}{\mathtt{\,-\,}}{\mathtt{4}}={\mathtt{y}}{\mathtt{\,-\,}}{\mathtt{2}}{\mathtt{\,\small\textbf+\,}}{\mathtt{2}}\\
-{\mathtt{2}}={\mathtt{y}}\end{array}\right)} \Rightarrow {\mathtt{y}} = -{\mathtt{2}}$$

-4=y-2..

Add 2 to both sides and turn the equation around. y=-2
