how do you do fractions

My math teacher taught me this weird song:

If you want to multiply,

This is what you do,

Top times top,

Bottom times bottom.

Reduce!

 

For division, you flip the second fraction. ( 3/5 would be 5/3) and then you multiply.

Addition and subtraction are harder to explain. You need a common denominator (the hard to explain part) and from there, you just add or subrtract the top number like regular numbers. :)
