Calculate the ratio of the volumes of two cylinders whose dimensions are in the ratio 5 : 8.

I think this is how it goes, but Moderators, please verify:

 

V=πr^2h. Since the ratio of their dimentions is 5:8 or 1:1.6, the ratio of their volumes would be:

1: 1.6^2(r^2) x 1.6(h) =4.096, or:

1:4.096

If the ratio of the dimensions is 5:8 then the ratio of the volumes is 5^3:8^3

 

that is

125:512
