If the function is quadratic and you are given a formula

set f(x)= 0 or y = 0 and solve for x by factoring

 

F(x)= x^2 + 5x + 6

0= (x+2)(x+3)

x+2= 0          OR        x+3=0

x= -2                          x= -3
