How do you indicate time on this calculator?

This calculator is not made specifically for units, but there are strategies to find out units of time.

These are known as T-charts (for large conversions) and conversion factors, or just division.

To use a T-chart is simple. Plug in your given value and its unit, and then find the conversion factor.

The conversion factor is a measure of units relative to one another and shows how many units make up the other, for example:

12 inches = 1 foot

is the conversion factor of inches to feet, and vice versa.

For time, this is simple. As you probably know,

60 seconds = 1 minute

60 minutes = 1 hour

24 hours = 1 day

7 days = 1 week

52 weeks = 1 year

365 days = 1 year

...and so on, past centuries and millenia.

Whatever unit you're looking for, remember its conversion factor and plug it into a T-chart if possible or do it in your head if you prefer.

For a T-chart, create a chart out of a simple plus, and place the indicated pieces into the chart:

Given value and unit (eg x seconds)  Desired conversion unit (eg minutes)
Conversion factor / rate of above unit (eg 60 seconds, because 1 minute is 60 seconds)

Multiply your values across, then down. This will result in the given unit in the desired unit, but remember which is which. Converting seconds to minutes doesn't result in more seconds!
