how do you know if somethig is undefined (slope)

If the equation is in the form   x = a, the slope will be undefined.......this is a vertical line......and a vertical line has an undefined slope

Futhermore....if we are given two points with the same x coordinate......this will have an undefined slope and the equation of the line through these points will be  x = [ the given x coordinate]
