6^2/3*2+ sqrtof9   using PE (MD) (AS)   we evaluate the exponent, first....so we have

36/3*2  + sqrt(9)   now, we perform any multiplications/divisons we encounter from left to right

We first encounter a division  (36/3), so we do that next and we have

12*2 + sqrt(9)    now, perform the multiplication

24 + sqrt(9)  and we have

24 + 3   =

27

Well, what's 6 x 6=36

What's 3 x 2=6

you divide the 1st. by the 2nd. and you get,

36 /6 =6

What is square root of 9? It's 3, right.

Then just add, 6 + 3=9

YOU THINK YOU CAN DO THAT IN YOUR HEAD? JUST TRY IT.

I did get 9 but I double checked in my calculator and I also got 27 which is another answer on this homework it's multiple choice...

If it look like the way you write it then the answer is 27

If it was like this

6^2/(3*2)+sqr(9)

then the answer is 9

NO, there is only ONE right answer, which is 9. If you start from the left & reduce that, you will only get 6 + the right hand side, which is 3=9. Very easy, right.

The problem is written like this

62 ÷ 3 • 2 + √9

Answers on homework are

A. 27    B. 9   C. 2.4   D. 60

I went with B but, When I inputed that formula in my scientific calculator I also got 27

CPhill explain it to you. It is PEMDAS. Calculators use that

62 ÷ 3 • 2 + √9 =27

If you put it in your calculator like this with parentheses

62 ÷(3 • 2) + √9 =9

Then it = 9.

Don’t believe the dumbshit anon.

To: CPHILL: What does this mean? The rule doesn't appear to be carved in stone, despite the claim of some ignorant people:

"A common technique for remembering the order of operations is the abbreviation "PEMDAS", which is turned into the phrase "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally". It stands for "Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, and Addition and Subtraction".

Maybe someone should carve it in stone. That way dumbshits like you might remember it. It is written on paper by scientists and physicists a long time ago. They know more than you, so maybe you should read it.

No matter how good your maths are if you add bulllshit then your maths are wrong.
