$$3\sqrt8 = 3*\sqrt{4*2} = 3*\sqrt4*\sqrt2=3*2*\sqrt2=6\sqrt2$$

I have simplified it.  You can do it on the calc but that will give you an approcimation.

Oh when i wanted to simplify $$\sqrt8$$     i looked for a square number that would go into 8.  I found 4.

If there was no square number  that went inot 8 then I would not have  been able to simplify it :)

Square root is one number, multiplied by itself, equals another number

Like

9*9=81

The square root of 81 is 9

To calculate the square root of 8 you use the square root button labelled $$\textcolor[rgb]{0,0,1}{\mathbf{\sqrt x}}$$

Too easy!

There are ways to work it out if you don't have a calculator. One of those ways resembles a wierd long-division procedure, but you would probably think it looks too complicated.

But students who like maths think it looks like FUN!!!
