vf = vo + at vo = original velocity = 0 a = acceleration of gravity 9.8m/s^2 or 32.2 ft/s^2 (I'll use 9.8 m / s^2)
vf = final velocity
vf = 0 + 9.8 m/s^2 (.0.5 s) = 4.9 m/s (do you see how one of the s cancels??)
