There are two equal groups of 8 books on the shelf. One group has reading books. In the other group, three of the books are math books and the rest are science books. How many science books are there
I'm assuming you mean there are two groups with 8 books in each group, so since one of the groups has three math books in it that means there are 5 science books... because 8-3=5. If you mean there are 8 books split into 2 groups, then there is only 1 science book... because 8/2=4 and 4-3=1.
