We can solve this with a proportion

 

Maria's Height / Length of Her Shadow  = Tree Height / Height of Tree Shadow

 

5 / 2.25  =  Tree Height / 5.4   multiply both sides by 5.4

 

(5.4) 5  / 2.25  = Tree Height  =   12 ft
