The white square is 5cm by 5 cm.
How do I work out the height of the triangle (the line the arrow is pointing to)?
Thanks
If the blue square is 3.8 cm by 3.8 cm ....
the area of the blue square = (3.8 cm)2 = 14.44 cm2
the area of the white square = (5 cm)2 = 25 cm2
the area of all four triangles = 25 cm2 - 14.44 cm2 = 10.56 cm2
The four triangles are congruent,so..
the area of one triangle = 10.56 cm2 / 4 = 2.64 cm2
(1/2) * 3.8 cm * height = 2.64 cm2
1.9 cm * height = 2.64 cm2
height = 2.64 / (1.9) cm
height ≈ 1.389 cm
