We will use this equation for an example.
(2 1/2)/(3/7) or two and a half divided by three over seven.
The easiest way is to first convert the whole numbers into fractions.
Ex. 2 1/2 (two and a half) = 5/2 (five over two)
Then you flip the second fraction around.
Ex. 3/7 (three over seven) = 7/3 (seven over three)
Then you just multiply directly across.
Ex. (5/2) * (7/3)
5 * 7 = 35
2 * 3 = 6
= (35/6) or thirty-five over six.
Make sure you simplify if at all possible.
