how do you get $${\mathtt{3}}{\mathtt{\,\times\,}}{{\mathtt{x}}}^{{\mathtt{2}}}$$with two varibles by multiplying

Have you tried dividing? I Got 3/2x^2 when I halved it. So that should mean that 3/2x^2(2)=3x^2.
