How would you do: x^2-11x+30 = (x+a)(x-6) ?

x^2-11x+30 

to factorise this you need two numbers that multiply to +30 (they must have the same sign)

and add to -11

ok -5 and -6 work

(x-5)(x-6)=(x+a)(x-6)

a=-5
