The equation of the hyperbola shown below can be written as (x - h)^2/a^2 - (y - k)^2/b^2 = 1.

Find h + k + a + b.

Equation of hyperbola is

     \({(x-h)^2 \over a^2}-{(y-k)^2 \over b^2} = 1\)

∴ Center of hyperbola is (h,k)

Now, from figure

(h,k) = (5,4)

⇒ h = 5

⇒ k = 4

a = 3

b = 2

∴ \(h+k+a+b=5+4+3+2\)

                             \(=14\)

~ Hope this helps :)
