what is X/x-2=X+4/9 its cross multiply and im have problems because its suppose to equal 2 or 8
x / [x-2] = [ x +4] / 9 cross-multiply
9x = [x -2] * [ x + 4] simplify
9x = x^2 + 2x - 8 rearrange as
x^2 -7x - 8 = 0 factor
[ x - 8] [x + 1] = 0 set each factor to 0 and x = 8 or x = -1
