Find the radius and the values of the trigonometric functions of an angle in standard position whose terminal side has the following points:
1. P(-8, 15)
2. P(3, -5)
3. P(√5, √5)
Find the required quantities for each of the following where angle θ is in the standard position and point P(x, y) is on the terminal side of θ:
4. If x = 4 and cos θ = 5/6, find y and r
5. If x = 5 and tan θ = 2/5, find y and r
6. If x = 10 and tan θ = 5, find y and r
Sorry for the long questions; It's just that I am stuck in answering these items...
1. P(-8, 15) radius= $${\sqrt{{\mathtt{64}}{\mathtt{\,\small\textbf+\,}}{\mathtt{225}}}} = {\mathtt{17}}$$
so
adjacent=x value=-8
opp = y value = 15
hypotenuse = radius = 17
Now you can just write down all the trig values based on these.
2. and 3. can be finishied similarly
2. P(3, -5) radius = $${\sqrt{{\mathtt{9}}{\mathtt{\,\small\textbf+\,}}{\mathtt{25}}}} = {\sqrt{{\mathtt{34}}}}$$
3. P(√5, √5) radius = $${\sqrt{{\mathtt{5}}{\mathtt{\,\small\textbf+\,}}{\mathtt{5}}}} = {\sqrt{{\mathtt{10}}}}$$
