the sum of the measures of three angles is 180 degrees. One measure is half the size of each of the other two. Find the measure of each angle.

Let the larger angle = x, then:

The 2nd angle          = x, and:

The 3rd angle           = 1/2x, so that:

x + x + 1/2x =180

2.5x = 180

x =180 / 2.5

x = 72 degrees, and:

72 / 2 =36 degrees - the smallest angle. So that:

72 + 72 + 36 = 180
