Can someone create an equation for this?
Charlie would like to build a rectangular frame for her latest anime sketch. The dimensions of
the frame are unknown, but the perimeter of the frame must be 39 inches. The length of the
frame is 2.5 more than the width. What are the dimensions of the frame?
If the rectangular frame has width x, and length y, then the perimeter is 2x + 2y = 39. The length (y) is 2.5 more than the width (x), so y = x + 2.5
Then you can substitute it back into the first equation. 2x + 2(x + 2.5) = 39. 4x + 5 = 39. 4x = 34, x = 17/2. y = 8.5 + 2.5 = 11
The width is 8.5 inches, and the height is 11 inches.
