So frst for the small triangle the mesurmnts are 2*8=16

Then the shape on the right is mesurments are 6*8=48

So next 16/2=8

now 8+48=56

is this correct please tell me if not I got confused at the part were you find which one divides by 1/2 or 2 I think it is the smallest number that is divided becasuse my other problem was sort of based off this so I was thinking to do the small plus it is the triangle part of the shape and we divided by 2 or 1/2 o the mesurments of the triangle part like right now it is 2*8=16

so then 16/2 or 1/2=8

Okay so you got the first part right of first triangle but the second part we still have another triangle and rectangle's area's to find

Now we can palce the triangle in the other corner jsut like the first one but it facing down this time, it's base and heigth will be the same as the one as before so what will the area of the second triangle be?

2x8=16

If I am supposed to divided by 1/2 or 2 it would then =8

So each triangle will be 8 then I have my center shape the messurments are 4*8=32 if supposed to be divided by 1/2 or 2 then 24

so 8+8+16=32

If I am not supposed to divided by 1/2 or 2 with 32 the answers below

8+8+32=48

once we have the answers do we divided it by 1/2  like I got 48 do I divided it by 2

Well the formula for the triangle is $$\frac{1}{2}* Base * height = Area$$

and you want to get in the habbit of using that instead of just dividing at the end I woudl use that trick once your abosoulty comfortable with the actual way to solve for the area of a traingle

so it would be $$\frac{1}{2}*\frac{2}{1}*\frac{8}{1} =\frac{16}{2}$$

and 16 over 2 indicates dividion so tyou divide 16 by 2 which results in 8m2

That is alittle confusing

When you multiply whole numbers with a fraction you put 1 as the denominator multiplly all the numerators and then multiply all the denominators. your final roduct will lead you to division.

Does that make sense?

Sort of but right now isint there a more explanatory way to do it not to be rude.....

That is the explanitory way so you want to multiply 1/2 to 2 and 8 well you set them up liek this

$$\frac{1}{2}*\frac{2}{1}*\frac{8}{1}$$ See where I'm goign here if you ahve a whole number that needs to be multiplied by a fraction then you put that number on the top as the numerator then you put just a 1 as the denominator.

Are you ready to do the rectangle?

yes lets start

Okay so now we know that area of the triangle ocoupies 2 meters of the top of the parallogram which leaves us with 4 left and we knwo the height of it is 8 fromt he side of the triangle so using thins information can you find the area' of the rectangle?

so 32

Yes 32 but you want to get int he habbit of  writng it's unit on the side so 32m2

Now just add all the areas we found both triangles and the rectangle.

So 8  for each small tiangle

Yes 16m2   for both Triangles 8m2 For indivdual.

so

8+8+32=48

lol

you guys dont need these complicated methods of solving. For any parrelelgram you do:

So you just B * H = A

6 * 8 = 48

I think Hylin link did a great job doing it the other way as its easier to understand.
