**Now, you may be thinking - this is overly complicated, right?**

Well, you can do it another way. Since these are relatively distant numbers, we can simply get the decimal values for each by plugging them into a calculator.

This gives 0.511, 7.43, 0.176, and 0.12. Sort them and you'll have the right answer, but much more quickly.

(To convert percentages to decimals, just take the percentage out of 1. 12% of 1 is 0.12, 0.5% of 1 is 0.005, etc.)

then, we can easily see that 22/43 is slightly greater than 1/2 which is 22/44.

6/34 is smaller than 1/2.

12% is smaller than 1/2.

so 22/43 is the second greatest number.

then we compare 6/34 and 12%.

12% = 0.12

6/34 = 3/17 approximately equal 0.18 <--- use a calc.

so 6/34 is greater than 12%.

so in ascending order, 12%, 6/34, 22/43, 7.43
