Can anyone help with this probability problem?
A 4x4x4 wooden cube is painted on five of its faces and is then cut into 64 unit cubes. One unit cube is randomly selected and rolled. What is the probability that the face showing is painted? Express your answer as a common fraction
4 of the cubes will have 3 sides painted = 12 sides
20 of the cubes will have 2 sides painted = 40 sides
28 of the cubes will have 1 side painted = 28 sides
Total number of sides painted = 80 sides
Total number of sides = 6 x 64 = 384 sides
Pobability that the face showing is painted = 80 / 384 = 4/19
5 4x4 faces = 80 1 inch sides of cubes
64 cubes = 64 x 6 = 384 total sides
80/384 = 5/24 probability of painted face showing
