I'm working with exponents and I'm supposed to complete the pattern of (-4) with an exponent of negative one. The other problem has it with a negative two as the exponent. I could really use some help on this

Basic law of indices.    A negative index means reciprocal of positive, ie   x^(-1) means 1/x

x^(-3) is just 1/x^3 and so on.   Now you should be able to answer the question.

Just in case;

(-4)^(-1) = 1/(-4) or     - (1/4).

(-4)^(-2)=1/-(4)^2    =   1/16 .
