I need help please Imma bout to fail this class and my teachers directions arent helping.
absolute value -23+8x -12>+37
absloute value 61+20x +32>51
absolute value 4a+3 +31=50
I'm not sure where the absolute value bars belong ...
If the first problem is |-23 + 8x| - 12 > 37
then, first add 12 to both sides to get: |-23 + 8x| > 49
Since it is a greater than ('>') problem, split the problem into two parts:
either + (-23 + 8x) > 49 or - (-23 + 8x) > 49
Solve each one separately:
+ (-23 + 8x) > 49 - (-23 + 8x) > 49
-23 + 8x > 49 23 - 8x > 49
8x > 72 -8x > 26
x > 9 x < -13/4
Does this help? Any questions?
Here how to do the first one.
-23+8x-12>+37
make it simple
8x-35>37
add 35 to both sides
8x>72
Then divide bothe sides by 8
x > 9
Sorry Geno I not see you untill now.
Oh I not think about the absolute part for this either.
I guess it is both because the first answer and the second answer is true, but only one or the other is true at the same time.
IDK one of the mods can answer better.
