I need help solving these problems pleaes and thank you. I also need step by step (show your work). Correct answers only please!! These are two separate questions sorry for or even if there was any confusion. Thanks.

  1. Completing the square: x2 +6x+9=0
  2. Solve for x: 2x2+6=24

1)

x^2 + 6x + 9  = 0

x^2 + 6x  =  -9

Take (1/2) of 6  = 3....square it .....= 9......add to both sides

x^2 + 6x + 9  = -9 + 9

x^2 + 6x + 9  =  0  .....notice that this is what we started with!!!.....factor the left side

(x +3)^2  =  0        take the square root

x + 3  = 0              subtract 3 from both sides

x  = -3

2)

2x^2 + 6  = 24       subtract 6 from both sides

2x^2  = 18             divide both sides by 2

x^2  =  9                take both roots

x  = ±√9

x = ± 3

cool cool cool
