 evaluate 3x + 1  +  4x - 1 when x = 1                                                                                                                                   -------------------                                                                                                                                                         2              3                                                                                                                                                          

express 3x + 1  + 4x-1 as a single fraction.                                                                                                                       ------------------                                                                                                                                                           2            3                                                                                                                               

using x= 1 verify that your answer in part (b) is the same as in part (a)

please  help can you explain how you did this .

I don't understand your expression.  Perhaps you can use brackets for the top and bottom of the fractions. and use a / sign between them to indicate a fractions

eg

$$\frac{x+1}{5-2y}$$

would be written as (x+1)/(5-2y)
