Maricris spends 1/2 of her monthly income on food and rent, 1/4 of her income on clothing and 1/12 on entertainment. She saves the rest which is $700. What is her monthly income?     

 

    1 / 2  +  1 / 4  +  1 / 12  =     

   6 / 12 + 3 / 12 + 1 / 12  =  10 / 12     

                                         =    5 / 6     

 

   So, "the rest" is        R  =  (1 / 6) • (total)     

                                  700  =  (1 / 6) • (total)     

                                total  =  6 • 700     

                                total  =  4200
