Simplify the following:
3×(-3)^2-5 (-3-2)^2

-3-2 = -(3+2):
3×(-3)^2-5 -(3+2)^2

3+2 = 5:
3×(-3)^2-5 (-5)^2

Multiply each exponent in -5 by 2:
3×(-3)^2-5×(-1)^2×5^2

5^2 = 25:
3×(-3)^2-5×(-1)^2×25

(-1)^2 = 1:
3×(-3)^2-5×25

(-3)^2 = 9:
3×9-5×25

3×9 = 27:
27-5×25

-5×25 = -125:
27+-125

27-125 = -(125-27):
-(125-27)
Answer: |-98

DO the stuff in parentheses first then the exponents then the multiplication then the addition or subtraction.

 3(-3)^2-5(-3-2)^2

=3(9) - 5(-5)^2

=27 - 5 (25)

=27-125

= -98
