i saw this in my physics book and couldnt figure it out, what is ( arctan )
the Equation was arctan (80/-100) = arctan(-0.80) and then they said -0.80 = -39 Degree
You mean to tell me that you are taking physics and haven't yet taken Trigonometry? You don't know what: sine, cosine, tangent mean?. Arctan is simply arctangent or inverse tangent. So, if you have the tangent of an angle=-.8, then you take the inverse of tan, or arctangent to find the angle!.
