I think i solved a problem like this awhile back with some type of formula but i just can't remeber it.

Cinema tickets costs 110 $ for adults and 90 $ for kids. They sold 120 tickets for a total of 11640 $. How many adults saw the show?

Could you write the steps you take to solve this.

K+A=120

so   K=120-A

110A+90K=11640

divide both sides by 10

11A+9K=1164

Sub in K=120-A

11A+9(120-A)=1164

11A+1080-9A=1164

2A=84

A=42

42 adults saw the show :)
