Sydnei and Braydon are friends that want to start a business together. Sydnei wants them to start a photography business that, after paying a one time fee of $10,000 for equipment and training, would earn them $30,000-$60,000 a year depending on demand. Braydon, wants them to open a restaurant whose initial costs would be $32,000 up front and each month upkeep would be $8,000. He estimates they could make about $12,000 in the first month and that the business would grow by 5% every month with a maximum monthly income of $75,000. Sydnei points out that 80% of restaurants fail in the first 5 years and Braydon counters that the photography business has little room for growth. What are the pros and cons of each business? Which business should they choose and why?
