The standard form for the equation of a circle is (x - h)2 + (y - 8)2 = r2    ...where (h, k) is the center of the circle and r is the radius.

 

So...in this equation: (x - 2)2 + (y - 8)2 = 16

16 = r2

√16 = r

4 = r

 

2 out of 4 suits are diamonds OR spades...so there is a 2/4 probability of drawing a diamond OR a spade.

2/4 = 1/2
