2 is always 2.

I assume you mean 2x.

\(-\dfrac{4(3x+1)}{2(2x-4)}=\dfrac{1}{2}\\ \dfrac{4(3x+1)}{2(2x-4)}=-\dfrac{1}{2}\\ 24x + 8=8-4x\\ 28x = 0\\ x = 0\)

Therefore 2x = 0

You may mean \(2^x\) and \(2^x = 2^0 = 1\)
